Claim
Occupancy hole closed without teaching Denver a new BAR.
Evidence
Weekly pickup memos vs occupancy and ADR floor for eleven weeks.
Caveat
A citywide that lasts past the sprint is a different job.
Situation
A downtown convention cancelled 19 days out. Station 9 lost 1,140 room-nights in a three-week hole and the GM was about to flash a 30% OTA code. The owner asked for a plan that would not teach Denver a new BAR.
Approach
Meridian embedded for six weeks. They rebuilt the hole by week and channel, set an ADR floor, and stood up a 15-minute morning pickup. Yieldwell (demo RMS) recommended; the GM overrode 18% of the time on purpose. Ratewatch drafted the comp-set note. No channel was darkened.
Outcome
Occupancy gap closed from 19 points to 3 by week 11. ADR finished $6 above the floor. The weekly owner memo is still the Tuesday habit.
“They would not let me torch the rate book. That was the whole product.”
